Project approved by Government. Openreach now planning for construction, for delivery in 2023

The project to bring "full fibre broadband" to properties in the village has reached a fantastic milestone.

After receiving a much improved price from Openreach for the work in the village, the project has now been approved by the Government. Many thanks to everyone who has registered their commitment to take up a future utltra-fast broadband package when the service is made live, your "pledges" have meant that the village has enough vouchers under the Government scheme for the scheme to be delivered almost entirely through Government funding, plus some additional "self dig" activities carried out by Rose Farms.

This means that almost all properties in the village will have the opportunity to take up the latest in high-speed broadband connection service. The ones we know are currently outside the scope are the new properties off Rectory Lea, as they were not constructed when the original scheme was submitted and we were not allowed to change scope late in the process. We will work with Openreach and look to get these included during the implementation phase.

It may take a further year from here for the necessary planning and construction activities before the service goes live - hopefully some time towards the end of 2023.

And a note on construction... the village is mainly serviced by existing cable ducts and overhead cables - so there won't be a wholesale dig of roads and footpaths in the village to make it happen.
